Congratulations to our Teacher of the Month, Wubesht Moges & Principal, Chandra Lemons of Love T. Nolan Elementary School in Atlanta, Ga.

Wubesht Moges teaches Gifted students grades k-5 at Love T. Nolan Elementary in College Park, Georgia.  He received a Bachelor in Science from Morehouse College and his Masters in education from Georgia State University.  Moges is from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia where he lived until he was 12 years old.

Moges says about his students, “My students are a constant source of amazement and inspiration.  Their creativity, curiosity, and eagerness to learn the ‘why’ behind and beyond the facts that confront them is what drives me to bring the best that I have to give.”

Moges feels strongly about having newspapers in the classroom.  He says that, “newspaper reading is a vital tool in our classroom.  We use the newspaper in a number of units, such as ‘Systems of Finance’ to familiarize them with reading stock tables and analyzing trends as well as our endangered species unit where we investigate the current status of endangered species around the world.  Reading the newspaper is an excellent habit to build in students and incorporating this habit into the students’ research activities conveys its usefulness as a research tool and a source for a better understanding of current events.

Moges’ favorite quote is, “you are what you aspire to be, and not what you now are; you are what you do with your mind, and you are what you do with your youth.” – Benjamin E. Mays

The AIE program is dedicated to creating life long reading habits and providing resources that inform, involve and inspire students and teachers. Not only are we committed to educating students, we are committed to honoring our teachers for all the work they do. As a result, we honor a different educator, by nomination, as our Teacher of the Month each month. We are grateful for the people who recognize the hard work our teachers put into their crafts. By recommending an educator you can help us to honor one more teacher and school, which in turn will help us reach many more.
